LAKELAND, Fla. – Two hours before the sun came up fishermen were starting to put their boats in the water for the North Florida Christian Bass Club’s sixth annual bass fishing tournament to benefit the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes.
The event, which took place off of the Palatka City Docks in Palatka on the St. Johns River, raised more than $10,000 for the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. Fishing enthusiasts from across Florida participated in the event, with 77 boats registering for the tournament. Bobby Cornn caught the big bass of the day with a 9.3 lb bucketmouth.
“The Bass Club has been a supporter of the Children’s Homes for years. Not only have they provided funds to help meet our financial needs, but they have helped with the construction of a dock here on our campus from which our children can fish,” said Randy Harrison, administrator for the Children’s Homes’ Jacksonville campus.
The Kids from the Children’s Homes got to participate in the day’s events by learning some fishing techniques from some of the anglers and then trying their hand at fishing off of the dock. Learn more about the ministry of the North Florida Christian Bass Club at www.nflchristianbass.com.
